John McGeown, Owner

John McGeown entered the industry in 2004 as a listing agent for Chicago Apartment Finders. He paid his dues by cold-calling thousands of landlords each week, listing over 2,500 rental properties in three years, before working his way up to account manager, and then listing and marketing director.

Over 1,500 transactions later, John wanted to learn more about the operational and sales side of real estate and became an agent with Jameson|Sotheby’s International Realty in 2008. In order to meet the increasing demand for property management services from his clients, John started High Fidelity Property Management in 2010. Since then, his knowledge of and enthusiasm for Chicago real estate have only grown. John has helped hundreds of clients buy, sell, rent, lease and manage properties all over the city.

Born and raised on Chicago’s north side, John has also been a resident of California and Scotland. He served in South America and the Middle East (Operation Iraqi Freedom) as an Operations Specialist with the United States Navy.  He credits much of his success to the support of his family and to his life philosophy: Be a leader. Never stop learning, and try your best to think outside of the box.

Mark Perres, Managing Broker

Mark Perres joined High Fidelity in 2013 as its Managing Broker, bringing numerous legal and transactional skills to the team. He possesses a strong entrepreneurial mind, having owned and managed several successful businesses in the Hospitality and Entertainment industries.

As a graduate of John Marshall Law School, Mark was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2009 and has extensive experience in a variety of areas that includes reviewing and negotiating real estate transactions. Mark’s wide-ranging skill set includes commercial leases, corporate structures, and partnerships and operating agreements.

In his spare time, Mark loves to cook, read, stay active in sports, and he tries to spend as much quality time with his family as possible.

Brett Murphy, Chief Marketing Officer

Brett Murphy’s extensive Marketing, Sales and Operational management experience in the Media industry, and in the Real Estate category in particular, bring a fresh, unique perspective on how to best achieve measurable ROI for property owners and real estate investment clients, both large and small.

Brett joined High Fidelity in 2013 after working in a local and corporate sales and marketing managerial capacity over the past several years, and on many real estate partnership initiatives with John McGeown. Since joining High Fidelity, Brett has implemented numerous operational system improvements related to customer relations management and repair/maintenance protocols.

He is presently working on new sales-investment strategies for investors and marketing projects for High Fidelity with a strong focus on stream-lined, intuitive and process-driven digital systems. With a creative, varied skill-set based on research and analytics, Brett applies sound strategic thinking to all aspects of the real estate business to best serve ownership, tenants and clients alike.

Brett was born and raised in the city of Chicago and the western suburb of La Grange and has lived with his wife and three boisterous rescue dogs for many years in Chicago’s North Center/Lincoln Square neighborhood. He is also a proud Kansas Jayhawk alum.

Lynn Williams, Controller

Lynn Williams brings nearly two decades of accounting experience to High Fidelity and is responsible for the development of policies and controls to further streamline the accounting function in order to properly manage expenses, maximize profits and provide accurate and timely reporting to owners.

Before joining High Fidelity in 2017, Lynn worked at a fast-growing commercial real estate sales, rental and management company that specialized in diverse, multi-family investment properties. She was integral in the oversight of staff and property accountants, while developing internal controls for all accounting functions. During this time, Lynn developed a new system to centralize invoice billing for management invoicing, while slashing accounts payable costs to ownership.

A graduate of Roosevelt University with a degree in Accounting, Lynn previously worked as an Accounting Manager at several large, corporate firms, where she held numerous responsibilities including financial reporting, AR, Collections, AP and audit controls. Additionally, she managed a multi-million dollar budget for attorneys, staff and 100+ clients.

In her free time, Lynn balances her strong work ethic by attending local theater and sporting events. In addition, she never misses a chance to attend a professional networking event.
